What is Zoning?

  • The division of land within the City into separate districts within which uses are permitted, prohibited or permitted with conditions. Zoning districts establish site development standards in order to maintain a consistent and compatible development pattern specific to each area. Within the City of Thomasville, there are sixteen separate zoning districts. Each district has a unique series of permitted uses. These uses are described in Chapter 22 of the City of Thomasville Municipal Code.
