An improvement project for Cherokee Lake Park is well underway, and City officials report that while the lake continues to drain, citizens are cautioned to limit their usage to the portions of the park that remain open. North Stevens Street between West Jackson Street and West Jefferson Street will be closed to thru traffic, beginning Monday, July 24, to replace an aging clay sewer main in the street. Construction is expected to be complete in three to four weeks. During this period, local traffic (i.e. delivery trucks, employees, etc.) will be accommodated to the maximum extent possible.
