The City Manager's Role
The City Manager is appointed by and serves the City Council. The City Manager is responsible for the implementation of policies set by the City Council and also manages the day-to-day operations of the City of Thomasville. This includes enforcing all laws and ordinances; recommending measures, ordinances and legislation necessary for efficient operation of the City; preparing the City's recommended budget; informing the Mayor and Council of the City's financial position; and other such duties as may be required by ordinance or resolution of the Mayor and City Council.
In addition to managing the operation of general government and essential services (public works, police and fire rescue) for the City of Thomasville, the City Manager also serves as the utilities superintendent. In this dual role, the City Manager assumes responsibility for the management and administration of all City utility services, including water, sewer, electric, natural gas, sanitation, and CNS/Telecom.
