THOMASVILLE CITY COUNCIL DECLARES LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY

The Thomasville City Council voted unanimously to Declare a Local State of Emergency in a Council meeting held on Tuesday March 24th. Council did not announce any actions that will be taken in connection with the Declaration.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at 7:00p.m. the Council will meet to consider on second reading an Ordinance to delete in its entirety Chapter 7, Captioned “Emergency Management “of the City of Thomasville Code of Ordinances and replace the same with a new Chapter 7, Captioned “Emergency Management.” The ordinance is available in its entirety on Thomasville.org. The meeting will be held in Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, located at 144 East Jackson Street.

Meetings of the Thomasville City Council are open to the public. However, it is recommended that citizens are mindful of guidelines and recommendations issued by the Centers of Disease Control for public gatherings and that a minimum of six (6) feet of distance must be maintained between citizens, whether standing or seated, in order to comply with Executive Order 03.23.20.01 issued by Governor Kemp. For this reason, citizens are encouraged to utilize the City Council live stream available on the City’s website, Thomasville.org.
