Thomasville has received a 2018 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant in the amount of $750,000 from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), which administers the program on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Thomasville was one of 60 Georgia communities awarded this year. Thomasville will utilize this grant for water and wastewater improvements in the Fletcherville community.

Beginning December 11th, the contractor for the CDBG project will make two separate repairs on sewer mains in the project area. These repairs are necessary before the sewer mains can be lined and repaired.

The first area of construction is at the intersection of Fletcher St. & College St. The detour will take vehicle traffic down Lester St. to Bartow St. Construction will begin after 9:00 A.M due to school traffic. The second area of construction is on Lester St. between Bartow St. & College St. The detour will take vehicle traffic down College St. to Fletcher St.

It is anticipated that the contractor will complete construction at both locations by close of business on December 11th. For more information regarding this project, please contact the City of Thomasville engineering department at 229-227-7001.
