THOMASVILLE – THOMAS COUNTY TIRE AMNESTY WINTER DATES SET

Posted on

City of Thomasville Solid Waste, in partnership with Thomas County Solid Waste, Thomas County Code Enforcement, and Keep Thomas County Beautiful, has announced an opportunity for Thomasville and Thomas County residents to dispose of used tires during Winter Tire Amnesty.

“This is a great way for residents to clear away any unwanted or unused tires they may have at no charge,” said Director of Solid Waste and Public Works, Nate Tyler. “Accumulated, unused tires are more than just unsightly, they can also be unsafe. Unused tires pose both a fire hazard and can be a breeding ground for insects and rodents.”

Tyler said that the Winter Tire Amnesty will allow each household to dispose of a maximum of eight tires. Bicycle, car, and light truck tires are accepted. Tires must be de-rimmed, clean and dry.

This year’s Winter Tire Amnesty will be held on December 7th through the 9th from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day. There are nine drop off locations available, including Hansell Road, Stewart Road, Woodruff Farm/Sunset Drive, Highway 88 and 202, Highway 84 East in Boston, Dillon Road, Patten-Coolidge Road, and Highway 19 North at Riverwood. Tires are also accepted at the Recycling Center on Remington Avenue behind EMS and the Fire Station.
