Step back in time and into a sparkling winter wonderland as Thomasville celebrates its 39th Annual Victorian Christmas, bringing holiday cheer, timeless traditions, and festive flavors to the heart of downtown. This beloved two-night celebration will take place Thursday, December 11, and Friday, December 12 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, offering an unforgettable holiday experience for all ages.
Visitors can look forward to an enchanting lineup of entertainment, including horse-drawn carriage rides, a live nativity scene, live reindeer, and visits with St. Nick. Downtown restaurants will remain open late, welcoming guests to warm up and enjoy a delicious evening meal. Street-food favorites - such as kettle corn, chicken pilau, funnel cakes, and other seasonal treats - will once again fill the air with irresistible aromas. Many merchants will also offer festive bites and beverages to keep the holiday spirit alive as you stroll.
With most downtown shops open both nights, Victorian Christmas offers the perfect opportunity to tackle holiday shopping while enjoying in-store entertainment, beautifully decorated storefronts, and unique gift selections. From local craftsmanship to holiday keepsakes, visitors can find something special for everyone.
“What makes this event so special is the collaboration behind it,” stated Brandy Avery, City of Thomasville Community Engagement Manager. “From small businesses and performers to volunteers and city staff, everyone plays a part in creating a holiday experience that’s uniquely Thomasville. The joy this event brings and the support it provides to local shops and restaurants is something we’re incredibly proud of.”
This year’s celebration blends beloved traditions with exciting new attractions. Guests can enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides along a scenic route near the Big Oak, snap photos with live reindeer, and be dazzled by fire performers. Festivities also include showings of the classic holiday film A Christmas Carol (2009) and a special Thursday-night performance by the South Georgia Ballet, presenting scenes from The Nutcracker outside the Thomasville Visitors Center. Throughout both evenings, visitors can savor marshmallow roasting, enjoy live music and local entertainment, enjoy a live nativity, and experience even more seasonal delights that bring the holiday spirit to life.
Victorian Christmas also provides countless opportunities for capturing magical holiday photos, thanks to large-scale photo spots, trees wrapped in glittering lights, and charmingly decorated storefronts. Families and visitors will love creating memories in this nostalgic, storybook setting.
This cherished community tradition would not be possible without the generous support of event sponsors including Thomasville National Bank, Flowers Foods, CNSNext, MGVG Living, Keith Lawson Services, Z Automotive, and the City of Thomasville. Their commitment to enriching the community and supporting local celebrations helps ensure that Victorian Christmas continues to shine brightly for residents and visitors alike.
