Downtown Thomasville is once again ushering in the holiday season with festive décor and community cheer. From twinkling lights and toy soldiers to larger-than-life wreaths and elegantly draped garland, visitors will find holiday magic at every turn.
“Preparations for the holiday season began in October and have been completed in time for Thanksgiving,” said Katie Ketchum, Main Street Director. “This effort is truly a community collaboration and would not be possible without the dedicated support of the City of Thomasville Electric, Operations, and Public Works Departments, CNSNext, and our community partners, including the TCCHS Key Club, Hands on Thomas County, Golden Circle Sisters, American Heritage Girls Group, and the Thomas County Central High School Fine Arts Department.”
As part of the 2025 Hands on Thomas County Day, members of the TCCHS Key Club wrapped the trees along West Jackson Street in lights, contributing to the city’s holiday transformation. Volunteers from the Golden Circle Sisters, the American Heritage Girls Group, and Sandra Seay assisted with testing and preparing the lights that illuminate downtown. “It takes many helping hands to bring the holiday spirit to life in Downtown Thomasville each year,” Ketchum added.
This year’s holiday season introduces new décor elements, including a striking 22-foot Christmas tree at The Ritz Amphitheater. The new addition serves as a festive centerpiece and the perfect backdrop for seasonal photos. Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the sights, explore local shops, and experience the flavors of the season at downtown restaurants.
Students from the Thomas County Central High School Fine Arts Department, under the direction of instructor Maria Pittman, also contributed to the city’s decorations by restoring and enhancing the beloved nutcracker figures that line East Jackson Street.
Downtown merchants further contribute to the festive atmosphere by designing creative holiday-themed window displays as part of the annual Window Decorating Contest, adding another layer of charm to the downtown experience.
All decorations will be on display and twinkle lights will officially illuminate downtown beginning December 1st.
Downtown events will kick off this year with Holiday Open House on Sunday, November 23 from 1-5 pm. Victorian Christmas will be held this year on December 11 and 12 from 6-9 pm each night.
