TEMPORARY LANE CLOSURES ON SMITH AVENUE

Contractors will begin constructing stormwater catch basins on both sides of Smith Avenue to improve drainage at the Dawson Street intersection. Both the East and West bound outside lanes will be closed in order to provide a safe zone for the construction workers. The traffic shift is expected to begin Tuesday, March 22 at 7:00 am and will last approximately five days. Travelers in the area will need to utilize the inside lanes, or select an alternate route. Arborists will be trimming trees around the historic courthouse, located at 225 North Broad Street, from March 18 – March 20. This work is scheduled to take place from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Contractors are scheduled to begin work on Smith Avenue Monday, March 21, depending on weather conditions, to upgrade the stormwater drainage system. Work is expected to be completed in one night from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. Contractors are scheduled to begin work along Bartow Street on Monday, March 1st. Forecasted weather conditions could delay the work until Tuesday, March 2nd. Crews will be paving the roadway along Bartow Street at the Wright Street intersection where a wastewater main was replaced. There will be a temporary road closure at the intersection.
