CNS PRESENTS FOURTH OF JULY IN THOMASVILLE

July in ThomasvilleThomasville is celebrating Independence Day on Thursday, July Fourth at 6:30 p.m. This year’s Fourth of July event, sponsored by CNS, will be located at Remington Park and will include food vendors, face painters, live mural painting, and more. The Michael Miller Band will also be performing southern rock, country, and other classics all leading up to a firework show at 9:30 p.m.

“The Fourth of July celebration is a wonderful time to reconnect with friends and neighbors throughout the community,” said Sarah Baggett, Marketing Manager. “CNS is proud to sponsor such a community-minded event at Remington Park. It will be a full of free family fun for everyone.”

“We are very excited to have the streetscape project well underway on West Jackson. With that project in mind, we decided to move the Fourth of July celebration to Remington Park,” said Baggett. “This helps us to not only maintain the safety of our community, but it also keeps the project moving forward and on track. It is a kind of homecoming for our July Fourth celebration, as Remington Park was the location for the event for many years before moving downtown.”

While the location may be changed this year, fun remains the same. Local food vendors will be set up along with a variety of food trucks offering a delicious selection. “Whether you are craving macaroni and cheese topped with BBQ at Tally Mac Shack or you are looking for sweets at the Bluebell ice cream truck, there is something for everyone’s taste buds” said Madison Eaton, Special Events Coordinator.

You’re Maker will be offering art activities for the kids, one of which will include making slime. “We will also have face painting, cupcake decorating, and a live mural painting by local artist Hillery Richards,” said Eaton. At 9:30 p.m. the Michael Miller Band will perform the national anthem just before a fireworks display lights up the night sky.

“The Fourth of July celebration is one of my favorite traditions in Thomasville” said Eaton. “People of all ages can enjoy this event. Having the event in Remington Park is a change from previous years, but the park will provide shade and plenty of parking, both key elements of a successful outdoor event. An evening of fireworks over the Thomasville sky will top off what is sure to be a fun, family evening.”

In the interest of public safety, event attendees are asked to not drive golf carts within Remington Park. Parking will be provided in the two front parking lots. “We ask for all attendees to please use the post event traffic plan that is available on our website, www.thomasvillega.com, to find the best driving route whether you are attending the event or traveling through Thomasville,” said Eaton. “In addition, the fireworks show provided during the event will be outstanding, so please leave the additional firecrackers and sparklers at home.”

Eaton said that since the Fourth of July is on a Thursday this year, there will not be a First Friday for July. “First Friday’s will resume on August 2nd with Bleu Burden at the Ritz Amphitheater.”

The City of Thomasville Fourth of July celebration will be held from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July Fourth at Remington Park. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.thomasvillega.com or call the Thomasville Visitors Center at 229-228-7977.
