First Friday Sip and Strolls continue this Friday, June 7th in downtown Thomasville with the theme Beach Beats. Guests are invited to sip, shop, and stroll through the downtown event area from 6-8 pm, then enjoy a free concert in The Ritz Amphitheater from 8-10 pm. This month’s concert will feature the Grains of Sand.
“The Grains of Sand are real crowd pleasers,” said Madison Eaton, City of Thomasville events coordinator. “They’re a high energy cover band that plays everything from Motown to beach music - perfect for kicking off the summer season and getting into the spirit of this month’s Beach Beats theme.”
In addition to live music, many downtown shops and restaurants will be running specials throughout the night. “Downtown merchants invite you to enjoy the spirit of summertime with seasonal beverages and meal specials, as well as hot deals on summer merchandise,” said April Norton, City of Thomasville main street and business development director. Participating downtown restaurants and retailers will be open late and will feature beach themed specials.
As the West Jackson Streetscape Project continues in the event area, guests are encouraged to visit the many retailers and restaurants that call The Bottom District home. “Merchants on West Jackson Street are open and ready to welcome you,” said Norton. “Sidewalks are open and front door access to these businesses is available.” Available parking areas and construction detour routes are clearly marked. “We encourage visitors and locals alike to take advantage of this time to visit merchants on West Jackson Street and all other areas of downtown Thomasville.”
First Friday Sip and Strolls events are free and open to the public. For more information about this event and all the 2019 First Fridays, visit www.thomasvillega.com or call the Visitors Center at 229-228-7977.
