With football season now in full swing, it’s time to get out your lucky jersey and don your favorite team’s colors for our “Tailgate Party” First Friday Sip and Stroll on September 7th from 6:00-10:00 p.m. in Downtown Thomasville.
Kick off the night with a beer or wine from your favorite local vendor and order it to-go so you can shop and dine in the unique stores and restaurants of Downtown Thomasville. Live musical performances will be stationed throughout downtown from 6:00-8:00pm. “We have members of Bleu Burden, Dana King and the Gypsy Cotton, and The Leftovers laying out a perfect soundtrack to a night of shopping and fun,” says Dustin Infinger, Marketing Manager for the City of Thomasville.
Take a stroll down to West Jackson Street and take in the vibrant culture of Thomasville’s budding creative district before heading over to The Ritz Amphitheater for a live performance by the Flint River Band from 8:00-10:00 p.m.
“This five piece band from Pelham, Georgia are a southern rock group with old school country charm and just a tinge of swamp,” says Infinger. Grab a pigskin and go long or play a round of corn-hole under the Friday night lights as the sun sets and the Flint River Band rocks the stage.
Local vendors will be set up bringing some hot food and cool treats closer to the action and surrounding businesses will stay open late to serve you. “Check out the new flavors of gourmet ice pops from Smith Collective and tailgate style special menu items being served at Empire Bagel,” says Infinger. “And your tailgating experience wouldn’t be complete without a slice of AJ Moonspin pizza, available for purchase in the concert area.”
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, so to help support childhood cancer research, Alex’s Lemonade Stand will be set up at The Ritz Amphitheater raising funds for childhood cancer research. “Get a cup of fresh squeezed lemonade to quench your thirst and keep you cool while supporting childhood cancer research,” says April Norton, Main Street Director with the City of Thomasville. “And keep an eye out for the blue recycling containers provided by Keep Thomas County Beautiful when you dispose your plastic cups,” Norton added.
First Friday Sip and Strolls are free and open to the public. Street bands perform from 6:00-8:00pm throughout downtown, followed by the mainstage show in The Ritz Amphitheater from 8:00-10:00pm.
