The City of Thomasville will have a contractor removing and installing crash impact attenuators on West Clay Street between Pine Street and Short Street starting March 19, 2024.
To facilitate a safe work environment for the construction crew that will be removing the existing crash impact attenuators and replacing them with new crash impact attenuators, West Clay Street between Pine Street and Short Street (the section of road that crosses under the West Clay Street railroad underpass) will be temporarily closed to thru traffic in the work zone starting at 7 am EST on March 19. The work is expected to last two (2) days. Detour signs will be posted to direct traffic around the work zone, and a detour map can be viewed here.
The Calhoun Street underpass will still be accessible as a means of creating an alternative route to avoid delays caused by trains across the West Jackson Street railroad crossing. Travelers in the area are encouraged to select an alternate route or be prepared for some travel delays. Please be patient with the crews while they work.
