The Power of One A Celebration of Black History Month and the Unsung Heroes of Thomasville Article PhotoThis week, we continue our salute to Poppa D, Mr. Frank Delaney, for Black History Month! You might know that he grew up on Pebble Hill Plantation, but what you may not know is that the house he called home for the first 23 years of his life actually crossed county lines! He said one part of the home was located in Grady County, but all you had to do was cross the hall into one of the other rooms and you were in Thomas County. That county connection seemed prophetic when... he graduated from Grady County Schools and later became a well-respected leader for Thomas County School System! Even after his retirement, he continued to show his heart to serve his community. Poppa D shares that it was then that he saw a way he could use his free time for good by combining his love of yard work with his passion to help widows in his neighborhood by volunteering to help care for their lawns. He also keeps the grounds at his church, Ochlocknee Missionary Baptist Church. These are just some of the many reasons we love Poppa D!
