TPD officers swearing inMembers of the Thomasville Police Department staff recently graduated from Basic Mandate Training in Tifton, Georgia. Basic Mandate Training is an 11-week program for post certified peace officers, and is required in the state of Georgia.

Recent graduates include Property & Evidence Coordinator Justin Kuhns as well as Police Officers Brandon Burden, Melvin Stultz, and Donald Such.

Kuhns was presented with the class flag and served as the class president. He was also second in the class in academics. “Receiving the class flag is quite an honor, as the recipient is voted on and selected by the instructors from those who stand out for going above and beyond and also for serving as an informal leader for their class,” said Thomasville Police Department Major Wade Glover. “Not only that, but his classmates selected him as their class president for his commitment within the course.”

Officer Stultz was the top firearms shooter in the class, having the distinction of best shot in the class overall.

Major Glover said all four recent graduates have made our community proud by setting the standard in training. “Thomasville Police Department officers set the bar high and stood out amongst other agencies, indicative of Team Thomasville’s high ethical and professional standards.
