JULY 6TH FIRST FRIDAY SIP AND STROLL CELEBRATES AMERICA’S BIRTHDAY

Posted on

America’s birthday may be July 4th, but we’re keeping the celebration going on First Friday, July 6th with the First Friday Sip and Stroll! Campbell Station will be on the amphitheater stage helping us celebrate the theme of “America’s birthday”.

From 6:00-8:00 p.m., hit the bricks for dining and shopping. Grab a beer or wine to-go from your favorite local vendor, then wander the historic streets of downtown Thomasville as talented local musicians perform folk, jazz, blues, and bluegrass. “We have some great performers this month,” said Dustin Infinger, City of Thomasville marketing manager. “They span the breadth of American culture and are going to create a really fun atmosphere downtown.”

Make your way down to the park and amphitheater a few minutes before 8:00PM to join the creative kids from You’re Maker for a special America’s birthday surprise. “These talented kids have created a one-of-a-kind birthday cake to honor America’s birthday,” says Infinger. “Join them as they sing Happy Birthday and display their hard work.” In addition to the birthday fun, there will also be a quick sketch artist in the amphitheater creating beautiful portrait sketches in the blink of an eye. “These free sketches are a great way to commemorate the night,” says Infinger.

Campbell Station will perform on the amphitheater stage from 8:00-10:00PM. The band is a country rock trio featuring Seth Ferguson on guitar, bass, and drums; Campbell Ross with lead vocals; and Elaina Campbell Conner with backup vocals and harmony. Their music is energetic and uplifting and will get you moving as the sun sets over Thomasville.

Downtown vendors, Kreamkles Rolled Ice Cream and Smith Collective with Hyppo gourmet popsicles will be in attendance to help cool you down. “Come out and enjoy a full night in downtown Thomasville by visiting your favorite shops and restaurants,” says Main Street Director, April Norton. “The shops are staying open late, welcoming you into their storefronts to explore all of their unique finds and offering up some special patriotic discounts,” said Norton. “Shopping local means your money stays right here in our community and builds our local economy.”

First Friday Sip and Strolls are free and open to the public. Smaller acts will be featured in downtown from 6:00-8:00pm, followed by the mainstage show in the amphitheater from 8:00-10:00pm.
