BUDGET BILLING PLAN ENROLLMENT PERIOD NOW OPEN

The City of Thomasville is currently accepting applications for the Budget Billing Program (BBP). The program offers utilities customers an additional way to help manage their household utility budgets with payment options that can be helpful when extreme temperatures may cause increased monthly utility usage. Program enrollment is available twice each year, during April and October. The current enrollment period will end on April 30.

“Managing your budget each month can be very challenging when excessive temperatures that are either warmer or cooler than expected impact your monthly usage,” said Melissa Donaldson, Director of Customer Service. “The Budget Billing Program helps to minimize this fluctuation by allowing customers to pay an average that is consistent month to month.”

Donaldson says that the Budget Billing Program runs in 12-month periods at which point accounts are reconciled. “Any overpayment or underpayment that has accumulated on the account must then be settled before the next billing period,” she said. “The advantage of the Budget Billing Program is that it helps to level out the costs of usage spikes which occur.”

“As our community continues its recovery from the economic impact brought on by COVID-19, the program offers an excellent choice for our customers that would like to set a monthly budget for their utility bills,” said Donaldson. “As we enter the warmer months of the year, the amount that customers enrolled in the program will pay each month will remain level.”

To enroll in the Budget Billing Program, residential utility customers must have a minimum of 12 months of continuous services and be up to date with all utility accounts and payments. The next opportunity to enroll in the Budget Billing Program will be October 1, 2021.
