The City of Thomasville invites the community to Downtown Thomasville on Friday, October 2, for an evening of live music, delicious food, and family-friendly fun.
The free concert begins at 8:00 p.m. at The Ritz Amphitheater and will feature The Grass Is Dead, a high-energy band known for blending traditional roots music with modern psychedelic influences. Rooted in the spirit of bluegrass, swing, and folk, their sound pays tribute to the legacy of the Grateful Dead while carving out a distinctive style of their own. Originally formed as an acoustic offshoot of the beloved tribute band Crazy Fingers, The Grass Is Dead has grown into a festival favorite, performing across the East Coast and beyond. Their dynamic live shows combine thoughtful arrangements, rich instrumentation, and an expansive catalog that spans classic Grateful Dead tunes, Jerry Garcia favorites, and traditional roots music.
A variety of food trucks will be on-site, and downtown restaurants will be open offering something for everyone to enjoy. First Friday continues to be a favorite monthly tradition, bringing residents and visitors together in a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and arrive early to explore downtown shops, restaurants, and businesses before the concert begins.
