LESTER STREET REPAIR RESCHEDULED

LESTER STREET REPAIR RESCHEDULED Article PhotoWork that was expected to begin this week on Fletcher Street has been rescheduled to begin next week. The work is part of a greater project that will improve water and wastewater infrastructure in the Fletcherville community. It is funded by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) grant in the amount of $750,000 from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA).

Work initially began in the area on December 11th when the contractor for the CDBG project started repairs on wastewater mains at the intersection of Fletcher Street and College Street. Unfortunately, this repair was lengthier than anticipated, which has delayed work that was also slated to begin this week on Lester Street between Bartow Street and College Street. Previously, it was anticipated that the contractor could complete construction at both locations by close of business on December 11th.

The Lester Street repair will now begin on Monday, December 17th. During the repair, a detour will be in place that will route vehicular traffic down College Street to Fletcher Street. Dependent on weather conditions, the repairs should be completed by the close of business on Monday, December 17th.

For more information regarding this project, please contact the City of Thomasville engineering department at 229-227-7001.
