Thomasville is celebrating Independence Day on Wednesday, July 4th at 6:30 p.m. in the beautiful park and amphitheater in downtown Thomasville. This year’s Independence Day event will include food vendors, stilt walkers, jugglers, face painters, and more. The Carolina Soul Band will also be performing beach, Motown, R&B, and classic soul, all leading up to a magnificent fireworks display.

“The Thomasville Independence Day celebration is a wonderful time to reconnect with friends and neighbors throughout the community,” said Sarah Baggett, CNS marketing director. “CNS is proud to sponsor such a community-minded event and to be able to provide free family fun for everyone.”

As the sun goes down, bring your lawn chairs and blankets to the amphitheater located off of West Jackson and Stevens Streets and find your perfect spot. Play a round of corn hole and then cool off with free fans and bottled water (sponsored by Live Well) while you work up an appetite.

Local veteran’s groups will be setting up along with a variety of food trucks and vendors offering everything from barbeque, hotdogs and hamburgers, to snow cones, funnel cakes and popsicles. CNS will be giving away free watermelon slices, and all activities are free to the public.

“Trinity Anglican Church is joining in on the fun by providing free cotton candy, popcorn and popsicles,” said Dustin Infinger, City of Thomasville marketing manager. “They have graciously offered their space as a cool-down area and their playground will be open to children who meet the height restriction. Tours of their beautiful church will also be conducted during the event.”

You’re Maker, Pottery Frenzy and Smallcakes will be in attendance with cupcake decorating and interactive arts and crafts, along with talented balloon twisters. “Stilt walkers and jugglers will be moving amongst the crowd to keep you entertained while the Carolina Soul Band keeps the rhythm going,” said Infinger.

At 9:30 p.m. the Kings Voices will perform the national anthem, just before a brilliant fireworks display lights up the night sky.

“We’ve planned a great event for our community, full of fun and festivities for the whole family,” said Infinger, “It’s a perfect time for families to come out and join us to celebrate America’s Independence.”

The City of Thomasville Independence Day celebration will be held from 6:30pm-9:30pm on Wednesday, July 4th in the Park and Amphitheater. Admission is free. For more information, visit www.thomasvillega.com or call the Thomasville Visitors Center at 229-228-7977.
