The City of Thomasville’s Fire Rescue Department has been alerted by the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs of a fraudulent group that claims to be trying to solicit funds on behalf of the fire service. They are referring to their fundraiser as ‘Firefighter Support Funds.’ Chris Bowman, the City of Thomasville’s Fire Rescue Chief, stated that our city’s fire rescue department would not reach out for donations in this manner, “The City of Thomasville’s Fire Rescue Department does participate in several fundraisers. However, we will be very detailed and descriptive with the community as far as what organizations benefit from any fundraiser we’re doing,” he continued, “Should you receive a phone call or visit from someone claiming to be representing your local fire department and you’re unsure about their motives, please feel free to reach out to someone within our department.” Anyone with questions can contact the City of Thomasville Fire Rescue Department at 227-4099.
