NATURAL GAS LINE REPAIR - REMINGTON AVENUE

Posted on

Starting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 09, 2018, the City of Thomasville Natural Gas Department will close the westbound lane on Remington Avenue between Kern Street and Hansell Street (see detour map) to make repairs to a gas mains and valves at the intersection of Remington Avenue and Hansell Street. During this time, westbound traffic on Remington Avenue will not be allowed to turn right at the Kern Street intersection, and will be required to continue south on Kern Street to Smith Avenue. Eastbound traffic on Remington Avenue should be unaffected by this activity. All work is expected to be completed Monday evening, and the westbound lane in this block of Remington Avenue, should re-open before 7:00 a.m. in Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

During this period, local traffic (i.e. delivery trucks, employees, residents, etc.) will be accommodated to the maximum extent possible, and still insure safety of the traveling public and workers in the area. “Our goal is to minimize disruption to local citizens and the traveling public, yet when we have a utility line that’s failed or is damaged, it has to be replaced, and we try to schedule these operations such that they have the least impact, when possible.”, said Wayne Newsome, P.E., City Engineer. “We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as these necessary improvements are made”.
