City of Thomasville officials have announced the celebration of "Georgia Cities Week" from April 21 to 27. This year's theme is "Soaring to New Heights."

According to Interim City Manager Chris White, the City of Thomasville is proud of the services it provides to make it an attractive destination for residents and visitors alike. “Cities play a crucial role in providing services and infrastructure to help businesses grow and create events that bring families and individuals together.”

The week-long celebration will include various events such as reading sessions for the youth in Thomasville City schools, salutes to former dignitaries, and a proclamation from the City Council encouraging the community to participate in the festivities. Thomasville will also be celebrating its annual Rose Show & Festival during Georgia Cities Week from April 26-27.

Georgia Cities Week is a statewide event sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) and celebrated across cities in Georgia. GMA, a voluntary, non-profit organization based in Atlanta, provides its 538-member cities with legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit, and consulting services.
