The HR staff provides personnel services to employees and applicants through recruitment, staffing, organizational and employee development, training, policy development and implementation, compensation, performance evaluation, employee events and employee relations. The HR staff has affiliations with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association (GLGPA) and the International Personnel Management Association (IPMA).
The staff works with the Thomasville Police Department and Thomasville Fire Rescue to coordinate several neighborhood and community events throughout the year to promote goodwill and community engagement.
Our Community Oriented Revitalization and Education (CORE) events offer food, fun and education through events that include:
Community Wide Events
Easter Eggstravaganza – Held annually in April at Paradise Park.
Howl-O-Ween – Held annually in October at the Thomasville Dog Park.
Fall Xtravaganza – Held annually in November at Paradise Park.
Neighborhood Community Events
C.O.R.E. (Community Oriented Revitalization and Education) – Held throughout the year
Oversight for the restoration of monuments and graves at the City’s three historic cemeteries (The Old Cemetery, The Lt. Henry O. Flipper Cemetery and Laurel Hill Cemetery) and the Civil War Prison Site is coordinated by the Community Relations staff. Special events coordinated with the Georgia Municipal Cemetery Association, Georgia Alliance of Preservation Commissions, and local historians help promote history and heritage at these historic properties.
Risk Management & Self Insurance
Risk Management is responsible for administering the City’s Wellness program, Worker’s Comp, Property and Liability Insurance, Safety Training, and Benefits Administration for its employees.
