CITY OF THOMASVILLE ANNOUNCES OPERATIONAL CHANGES TO LANDFILL

Posted on

The City of Thomasville has announced operational changes to the Thomasville-Thomas County Municipal Solid Waste Landfill. Effective January 1, 2021, the landfill, located at 88 County Landfill Road, will operate from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Hours of operation for weekdays will remain unchanged, and the landfill will remain closed on Sundays.

“In order to provide excellent service to our customers, it is necessary to consistently evaluate our operational needs,” said Lee Thomas, Assistant Solid Waste and Landfill Superintendent. “We are confident that this adjustment to our hours of operation will allow us to meet the needs of our customers.”

Thomas stated that effective January 1, 2021, the landfill will also implement adjusted disposal fees. “Due to an increase in environmental and construction costs, we find it necessary to adjust our fees in order to continue providing our customers with the level of service they have come to expect,” he said. “Scheduled increases include municipal solid waste, construction and demolition, and inert yard trimmings disposal fees.”

“Although some of our operations have been adjusted, our number one goal of serving our customers will not change,” said Thomas. “We look forward to continuing to provide the great service our highly valued customers have come to expect.”
