THOMASVILLE FIRE RESCUE HITS THE LADDERS

Members of Thomasville Fire Rescue are participating in annual training to help ensure the department is ready to respond to all situations, no matter the height. Each member of TFR must ascend the department’s aerial truck ladder to its full height of 100 feet. BUDGET BILLING ENROLLMENT PERIOD NOW OPEN

The City of Thomasville is now accepting applications for the Budget Billing Program. The Budget Billing Program gives utilities customers an additional way to help manage their winter budgets, with payment options that can be helpful when excessive temperatures may cause increased monthly utility usage. TEMPORARY LANE AND ROAD CLOSURES BEGINNING APRIL 17

Beginning Monday, April 17, 2017, City of Thomasville Utilities’ Natural Gas Department will conduct line and valve repairs on West Jackson Street. These repairs will require the temporary closure of the inside eastbound lane on West Jackson Street near College Street. The work in this lane is expected to begin after school has started on the morning of the 17th, so that school traffic will not be impacted. CITY SEEKS INPUT FOR FRANCIS WESTON PARK IMPROVEMENT

Francis Weston Park is at the center of a City of Thomasville initiative to re-imagine and revitalize neighborhood parks. Together with community leaders, City staff will lead participants through a three-day visioning process April 23-25, 2017, to help spark conversation for how to best utilize the 12-acre park complex. TOURISM IN THOMASVILLE CREATES ECONOMIC IMPACT

The Georgia Department of Economic Development has released the 2015 study of Travel Economic Impact on the state of Georgia, counties and regions and according to Tourism Director Bonnie Hayes, the numbers show that tourism means big business for Thomasville. “I think many people are surprised to hear about the economic impact tourism has locally,” said Hayes. “In 2015, the tourism industry supported more than 600 local jobs and generated $67.6 million in direct tourist...

SUNDAY ALCOHOL SALES PASS; EFFECTIVE MAY 1ST

The results are in, and Thomasville voters overwhelming supported a referendum that would allow the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages on Sundays in the city of Thomasville. The new law will go into effect on Monday, May 1st, making Sunday, May 7th the first Sunday that alcohol can be purchased.
