AREA RESIDENT SEDRICK REVELS COMPETES ON WHEEL OF FORTUNE

Most people can only dream of being on a nationally known television show, but one area resident was able to experience it. Sedrick Revels, a City of Thomasville employee, recently fulfilled a lifelong dream when he was selected to compete on Wheel of Fortune.

"Wheel of Fortune is a show that we like to watch as a family, and they think I'm pretty good at completing the puzzles," noted Revels.

With help from his 12-year-old daughter, Taraji, Revels submitted an audition video last September and soon received an email from show staff with a virtual interview date. During the interview, he completed puzzles virtually with other potential players, with no idea how well he was doing.

"They told us if we didn't hear from them, we didn't make the show," said Revels. "I thought, 'Ok, I enjoyed it,' but didn't think I would make it." He soon received an audition date and took his first plane trip to Los Angeles with his wife Renada, taping the show in December.

Due to COVID protocols, a studio audience wasn't allowed during the show's taping, so his wife wasn't able to watch it. Revels noted staff members constantly sanitizing the wheel and other areas, and contestants had to wear masks and practice safe social distancing.

The show aired last week, and though he didn’t make it to the bonus round, Revels did win some money and had an amazing experience.
