BUDGET BILLING PLAN ENROLLMENT PERIOD NOW OPEN

The City of Thomasville is currently accepting applications for the Budget Billing Program (BBP). The program offers utilities customers an additional way to help manage their household utility budgets, with payment options that can be helpful when extreme temperatures may cause increased monthly utility usage. Program enrollment is available only twice each year, during April and October. The current enrollment period will end April 30.

“It can be difficult to manage your budget each month when excessive temperatures that are either colder or warmer than expected impact your monthly usage,” said Melissa Donaldson, Director of Customer Service. “The Budget Billing Program helps to minimize this fluctuation by allowing customers to pay an average that is consistent month to month.”

The Budget Billing Program runs in 12-month periods. At the end of the program, accounts are reconciled. This means that any overpayment or underpayment that has accumulated on the account must then be settled before the next billing period. Donaldson said the advantage of the Budget Billing Program is that it helps to level out the costs of usage spikes which occur.

“The Budget Billing Program is an excellent choice for our customers that want to know how much they will have to budget for their monthly utility bills,” said Donaldson. “Whether the temperature swings warmer or cooler than normal, the amount you pay each month will remain level month to month.”

To enroll in the Budget Billing Program, residential utility customers must have a minimum of 12 months of continuous services and be up to date with all utility accounts and payments. The next opportunity to enroll in the Budget Billing Program will be October 1, 2020.
