Citizens with questions about their utility rates and ways to save will have the opportunity to learn more when the City of Thomasville hosts, ‘Let’s Discuss Utilities,’ the most recent presentation in the popular community engagement series. The event will be held Tuesday, June 5th from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in the Harper Elementary School gymnasium.
“We launched the ‘Let’s Discuss…’ series last fall as a way to help spark thoughtful discussions concerning topics that are relevant to community engagement,” said Lauren Radford, Director of Engagement and Outreach. “One topic we hear discussed often is utility rates. This discussion will hopefully help our customers better understand how their utility bills are calculated each month.”
The topic of utility rates was chosen to not only help customers better understand their utility bills, but to also share information about how the City of Thomasville’s rates stack up statewide.
“As City of Thomasville Utilities customers, we actually have electric rates that are lower than the state average,” said Radford. “This information is readily available online from the Public Service Commission’s website. During this event, we will share how we stack up against other providers.”
In addition, participants will also learn how to break down their utility bills by service to better understand how their utility costs are allocated. Budget-saving tips will also be shared during the event.
“The City of Thomasville offers customers several programs to save on their monthly bills,” she said. “We will be sharing information on these programs and also taking appointments for participants to meet with our customer care staff so that a detailed analysis can be made of their utility bills.”
