CITY OF THOMASVILLE LAUNCHES SUMMER READING VIDEOS

Posted on

The City of Thomasville will release a five-part summer reading series beginning Friday, May 15. The series is aimed at providing story time while our youngest residents are still encouraged to shelter in place. “Story Time with the City” will feature City employees reading books to children from a variety of locations around the community. City Manager Alan Carson said, “I am honored to take part in the series and hope that it can provide parents a few minutes to enjoy their coffee or to just sit back and take a much-deserved break. We are honored to launch the video series in order to provide our families with a fun virtual outlet for our young children,” said Carson.

Sheryl Sealy, Executive Director of Marketing and Customer Services credits the Thomasville Police Department with the idea of reading to children through video. “Recently the TPD Facebook page featured story time with Officer Donald Such and School Resource Officer Jamica Thomas reading from their patrol cars, and we felt it was something we could expand upon with other staff members within our organization.” Added Carson, “Our children have had many adjustments to make during these times. We hope having story time provides them some enjoyment.”

The “Story Time with the City” series can be viewed at Thomasville.org, the City’s Facebook page and on CNSNext Channel 6 beginning on Friday May 15th and will continue for the next four Fridays.
