The City of Thomasville’s Water Treatment Plant was recently recognized by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for operating with perfection during 2021. For this achievement, the Water Treatment Plant received a Platinum Award by GAWP in recognition of a full year of meeting or exceeding compliance standards with all Safe Drinking Water Act requirements. This is the fifth consecutive year that the City of Thomasville has received this award.
“We’re honored to receive this industry award and to be recognized by the GAWP,” said Chris White, Assistant City Manager. “We have highly trained water distribution and water treatment staff members that work diligently every day to continuously provide a safe public water system for our community.”
Each year, GAWP recognizes corporate and utility members for water facilities that have had no permit violations for Maximum Contamination Levels or no National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit or pretreatment violations during the preceding calendar year.
“When one of our city departments receives recognition, it’s because of the leadership of the employees in those departments,” noted White. “Stacey and Bob are dedicated leaders and have created a team of employees that consistently work to protect our water system on a daily basis.” Stacey Thomas is the Water Superintendent and Bob Reichert is the Water Treatment Supervisor for the City of Thomasville.
