The City of Thomasville’s Water Treatment Plant received a Platinum Award from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for operating with perfection during 2022 by meeting or exceeding compliance standards with all Safe Drinking Water Act requirements.
“It’s always great to be recognized for exceptional work,” said Eric Gossett, Assistant Utilities Superintendent. “We’re honored to receive this award from GAWP because it reflects the hard work of our employees and further ensures that the City of Thomasville provides safe water for our residents.”
The excellence of the City’s water treatment staff has been recognized since 2012 by the GAWP. This is their sixth consecutive year earning the Platinum Award after previously receiving the Gold Level recognition for five consecutive years. Of the approximately 2,600 water systems in Georgia, less than 10 percent were eligible for the Platinum Award. To receive the award, water treatment staff must collect approximately thirty samples per month and conduct more than 2,190 tests per year to ensure customers are consuming the cleanest and safest tap water possible.
