The City of Thomasville will host the second in a three-part public outreach series designed to help citizens understand the multiple components that contribute to a strong local economy. “Let’s Discuss…Tourism in Thomasville” will be held on Tuesday, August 27th from 6:00-7:00 pm in Council Chambers at the Thomasville Municipal Building, located at 144 E. Jackson Street.
“The ‘Let’s Discuss…’ series allows the City of Thomasville to explore complex subjects with our citizens in an environment that encourages open conversation,” said Sherri Nix, City of Thomasville Public Outreach Manager. “Tourism is very important to the economy of Thomasville and translates into millions of dollars each year that stay right here in our community. This session will focus on how our community directly and indirectly benefits from local tourism, including its impact on job creation and economic growth.”
“Most residents aren’t aware of the economic impact each visitor has on our community,” said Bonnie Hayes, Tourism Manager. “Tourism in Thomasville directly generated over $71 million dollars last year and is responsible for over 635 jobs. You can see that tourism is alive and well, and with good direction, will continue to be an economic driver for our city.”
