The City of Thomasville is proud to announce that our municipally owned golf course, Country Oaks, has been named one of the 10 best public golf courses in Georgia by Best Things Georgia.
“It’s a real honor to be named as one of the top 10 public golf courses in Georgia,” said Mike Owens, Country Oaks Golf Course Pro. “Our staff works hard to maintain the course and keep it playable year round for our residents and visitors.”
Just 4 miles outside of Thomasville, Country Oaks is a par 72, 18-hole golf course. The course is 6,284 yards from the back tees with a USGA rating of 71.3. The course, while not long, is very narrow and places a premium on accuracy off the tee-box. Country Oaks offers two family tee placements at each hole to allow novice or junior golfers an experience that is challenging but doesn’t require as many shots to get the ball near the green.
Country Oaks offers lessons for all ages and has many amenities for golfers of all levels, including a fully stocked pro-shop, a full-service snack bar, a full length driving range and a putting green. For corporate meetings and tournaments, there is a 350 square foot meeting room with wifi available. Country Oaks’ most recent addition is game that’s a combination of soccer and golf called FootGolf. Similar to golf, it uses tee boxes, greens, bunkers and hazards with the player kicking a soccer ball into a 21-inch diameter hole in the least kicks possible.
“Country Oaks and the City of Thomasville are committed to providing golfers with a quality golfing experience at an affordable price,” said Owens. “Whether it is a Saturday morning round of golf with friends, a family outing, birthday party for the kids or a business golf outing, Country Oaks is the golf course for you.”
