The City of Thomasville will hold a Fletcherville Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Public Closeout Meeting on Tuesday, November 9th at 5:30 p.m. Citizens are invited to join City staff for a wrap-up discussion about the process and completed projects. The meeting will be held at the Disciples of Jesus Ministries located at 228 Augusta Avenue.
According to Sherri Cain, Public Outreach Manager, in 2018 the City of Thomasville received CDBG funding in the amount of $750,000 from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), for water, wastewater drainage and resurfacing improvements in the Fletcherville area. “The closeout meeting allows City staff to inform the community of the process and completed projects that positively impacted approximately 650 Thomasville residents in the Fletcherville community,” said Cain. “We invite residents to join us and hear more about the water, wastewater, and drainage improvements throughout this area of our city.”
The Fletcherville project totaled a cost of more than $2.2 million with additional funding coming from the 2012 Special-Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). “These projects help stimulate economic development and enhance the quality of life for the whole community,” said Cain. “The success of CDBG awards and the execution of the improvement projects hinge on public input and information. This meeting is yet another opportunity for our community to be involved in the process.”
