The City of Thomasville invites the community to kick off the month with an evening of fun and entertainment at First Friday, taking place on Friday, April 3. The event features a free live concert from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at The Ritz Amphitheater.
Live music for the evening will be provided by Macon Music Revue, a five-piece band deeply rooted in the rich musical heritage of Macon, Georgia. The members of the Revue draw inspiration from the city’s soul and Southern rock legacy, blending powerful gospel and music theatre-influenced vocals from Charles Davis with exceptional blues and slide guitar work from Dustin McCook. Keyboardist Ethan Hamlin, a classically trained musician, channels the influence of legendary Macon players Gregg Allman and Chuck Leavell, while drummer Caleb Melvin and bassist Evan Bentzel provide a laid-back groove that defines the signature “Macon sound.”
A self-described “preservation band,” Macon Music Revue celebrates the artists and songs associated with its hometown, performing music from icons such as Little Richard and Otis Redding, as well as artists connected to Capricorn Records. The group also brings its own spin to songs by James Brown, Atlanta Rhythm Section, and R.E.M. With a repertoire of more than 140 songs, the band showcases the depth and lasting influence of Macon’s musical legacy.
Guests can also enjoy a variety of food trucks stationed at The Ritz Amphitheater throughout the evening.
First Friday events are free and open to the public, making them a perfect way to experience community, culture, and the vibrant local atmosphere that Downtown Thomasville has to offer.
