Thomasville Fire Rescue (TFR) Chief Tim Connell was recently named Fire Chief of the Year by the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs (GAFC). Connell was recognized during the 54th Annual Firefighter Recognition Day held February 3rd at the Georgia State Capital, an event that recognizes outstanding individuals and contributions to Georgia’s fire service.
“I am humbled and honored to be recognized by my peers as the Fire Chief of the Year,” stated Connell. “This is only possible through the love and support of my family and the incredible work of the brave men and women of our TFR family that I am blessed with leading on a daily basis.”
According to the GAFC, the Fire Chief of the Year award is given annually to a fire chief who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, commitment, and service to their community, the fire profession, and the state of Georgia. Chief Connell was recognized for his unwavering commitment to serving and building relationships throughout the Thomasville community while fostering a culture of professionalism, preparedness, and teamwork. Through his vision, professionalism, and dedication, he sets a standard of excellence that inspires the men and women of Thomasville Fire Rescue to achieve greatness, leaving an enduring legacy within the organization and the community.
“This incredible commendation, signed by Governor Brian Kemp, not only recognizes Chief Connell’s excellence throughout 2025 but also celebrates his nearly 26 years in public safety,” said City Manager Chris White. “His leadership and dedication make a difference protecting and serving our community, and we’re proud to see that commitment recognized statewide.”
Connell has been an invaluable member of Thomasville Fire Rescue since 2000, serving as Fire Chief since 2020.
