THOMASVILLE, GA – October 13, 2016 – The Thomasville Thomas County Land Bank Authority, has entered into a partnership with Tolar Properties, LLC of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, to develop the Victoria Park neighborhood. The official documents were signed at the Land Bank Authority meeting Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
“This partnership ensures that the homes to be constructed are in keeping with the original vision we had for this area,” states Land Bank Chairman Greg Hobbs. “This is not a subdivision; it is a neighborhood of existing homes, an elementary school and small businesses. Tolar Properties, a national expert in infill development, honors the community already in place.”
“Tolar Properties will assemble a local team of builders and resources for the initiative. That is good for our local economy,” adds David Cone, Land Bank board member.
“This project is truly a community initiative,” explains Alston Watt, Director of the Williams Foundation. “The City of Thomasville, the Williams Foundation, Thomasville Landmarks and our full committee have together worked since 2011 to save existing homes and rehab structures where possible in Victoria Park. When the City officially designated the neighborhood an Urban Redevelopment Area in 2009, that was a real shot in the arm to obtain state resources,” explains Watt.
The Thomasville-Thomas County Land Bank Authority, formed in 2006, is a joint city-county effort to nurture economic growth and promote development projects. One of those projects is the Victoria Park neighborhood, a vibrant neighborhood that blends seamlessly with Thomasville’s downtown core. Tolar Properties has options on 24 lots from the Land Bank for development in this neighborhood that is just minutes from our downtown district. Homeowners may easily walk to shops and restaurants. Construction will begin in 2017.
