The City of Thomasville in partnership with local veterans groups is honored to present the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 10th at 10:00 a.m. in downtown Thomasville. The community is encouraged to attend the parade to celebrate the men and women who have served in our U.S. military.
Veterans Day officially became a national holiday in 1938. It’s a day to show respect and gratitude to those who were willing to serve our country. “The City of Thomasville stands behind our veterans and active military members and we honor them for their service to our country,” says Dustin Infinger, City of Thomasville events coordinator. “We encourage the community to join us as we show these brave men and women our support and appreciation for their service.”
November 10th is also Family Volunteer Day presented by Hands On Thomas County. HOTC will be in the Thomasville Visitor Center breezeway with poster boards and art supplies for creating posters to support and encourage our local veterans. If you would like to participate, join HOTC at 144 East Jackson Street at 9:00 a.m. before the parade to make a poster.
“We have several parade entries this year joining us from a galaxy far far away that you won’t want to miss,” says Infinger. “Downtown Thomasville will be abuzz with lots of other events throughout the day so come early for the parade and stick around after for a fun afternoon in downtown Thomasville.”
The Veterans Day Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. and proceed down Broad Street, beginning at Washington Street and ending at Remington Avenue. The parade will be followed by a ceremony in front of the historic courthouse at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the parade.
