Thomasville City Manager Chris White announced the promotion of Eric Gossett to Utilities Superintendent, effective January 7, 2026. Gossett has served as Assistant Utilities Superintendent since March 2022.

“I am pleased to announce the promotion of Eric to Utilities Superintendent,” said Chris White, City Manager. “Since joining our team, Eric has served the community and Team Thomasville with integrity, commitment, and determination. His journey and growth through our organization is due in large part to his proven and dependable leadership, and I am confident that he is prepared for this next stage in his professional career.”

Gossett has been with the City of Thomasville since 2019. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Purdue University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. “I am honored and humbled to be entrusted by our City leadership with this promotion to Utilities Superintendent,” said Gossett. “I would like to thank City Manager Chris White for this incredible professional opportunity and look forward to continue serving our organization and community in this capacity.”

“As a member of Team Thomasville, Eric is a true example of someone who has worked hard and risen through the ranks,” said White. “He joined our organization as a CDL Equipment Operator before transitioning to the Natural Gas Regulatory Compliance Assistant position.” Gossett went on to serve as Risk Manager, and most recently Assistant Utilities Superintendent. He has earned multiple professional certifications in utility management, crisis coordination, enterprise risk management, and leadership development. In his role as Assistant Utilities Superintendent, he has managed large-scale infrastructure projects, overseen critical infrastructure and utility operations while supporting strategic planning, rate analysis, policy development, and capital improvement initiatives.

Prior to joining the City, Gossett served our Nation as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps including deployments in Afghanistan, where he supported combat operations. “Eric came to us with a strong foundation in leadership, logistics and construction from his seven-year service in the United States Marine Corps,” said White. “As a Marine, he led multimillion-dollar projects, managed complex logistic operations, improved equipment readiness, and trained hundreds of personnel, including during deployment in support of overseas operations. The skills and experience that he brings has positively impacted his professional development and our organization.”

The role of Utilities Superintendent requires complex professional, technical, strategic, and administrative leadership while overseeing the City’s utility operations. “As a member of our team, Eric has gained invaluable experience in multiple areas of our organization,” said White. “I am confident that his ethical leadership, strategic mindset, and commitment to public service will help guide our Utility Operations into a new era while prioritizing the needs of our citizens.”
