THOMASVILLE IMPLEMENTS MANDATORY CURFEW AND PREPARES FOR WINTER STORM ENZO

In response to the approaching winter storm and following guidance from the National Weather Service and local weather authorities, the City of Thomasville, in partnership with Thomas County, has implemented a mandatory curfew to ensure the safety of all residents and facilitate the work of emergency services.

Mandatory Curfew Details:

The curfew will be in effect from 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, until 12:00 PM, Noon, on Wednesday, January 22. During these hours, all non-essential travel and activities are strictly prohibited. Residents are required to stay indoors unless involved in emergency response or essential services.

Curfew Exemptions Include:

  • Emergency responders (police, fire, and medical services)
  • Essential workers (utilities, public works, and healthcare)
  • Other individuals or services deemed necessary by local authorities

Failure to comply with the curfew will result in enforcement actions in accordance with local laws and regulations.

Public safety officials strongly advise residents to take immediate action to secure their homes and property. “The safety of our community is our top priority,” said Thomasville Police Chief Wade Glover. “Please stay informed and adhere to the curfew restrictions. We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Stay safe as we work together to navigate this severe weather event.”

City Operations Adjustments:

  • Administrative Offices: The City of Thomasville administrative offices, to include the Visitors Center, Country Oaks Golf Course, and CNSNext services, will close to the public Wednesday, January 22.
  • Utility Services: Utility staff and public safety personnel will continue to operate during the storm.
  • Municipal Airport: The Municipal Airport is scheduled to close midnight, tonight, and will open 12 noon Wednesday, or until conditions permit.

Solid Waste Schedule Changes: Solid waste services will be delayed by one day.

  • Wednesday’s collection will occur on Thursday.
  • Thursday’s collection will occur on Friday.
  • Friday’s collection will occur on Saturday.
  • Landfill services will be suspended until Thursday.
