CITY OF THOMASVILLE UTILITIES TVILLE TEXTALERT SERVICE ADDS AUTO ALERT FEATURE

Posted on

In April of this year, the City of Thomasville Utilities launched Tville TextAlert, a free service that allows customers to report electric outages and receive updates on outages through text messages on their mobile phone or device. Beginning July 12th, City of Thomasville Utilities will be adding a new feature to the Tville TextAlert service called Auto Alert. The new service informs customers when there is an electric outage at their location(s), often times before the customer is even aware of the outage.

“We’ve had positive responses to Tville TextAlert from our utilities customers, and many have opted into the free service,” said Karis Mills, Director of Customer Service. “The Auto Alert feature allows us to notify our customers when we detect an outage at the service location before it is reported by the customer. This can be especially convenient for customers who may be away from their homes when outages occur.”

The new feature will also send customers a convenient reminder text when payment due dates are approaching, which many may find helpful. “We understand that in the busyness of everyday life, due dates can sometimes be forgotten,” she said. “Auto Alert will allow us to send our customers a friendly reminder when the payment due date is near.”

Mills said that signing up for Tville TextAlert is quick and easy, and the service is completely free to City of Thomasville Utilities customers. To sign up for Tville TextAlert, customers should call Customer Care at 229-227-7001 and verify that their mobile phone number has been entered into the outage reporting system. Customers will then simply text TVILLE to 85700. Normal message rates and data fees from the customer’s mobile phone carrier may apply. Customers who have previously signed up for Tville TextAlert will automatically receive the Auto Alert service and will not need to enroll in Tville TextAlert again.

“We are excited to offer our customers the convenience of both the Tville TextAlert and the Auto Alert services,” said Mills. “We are always looking for new ways to improve communication with our customers, and these new services are great tools to help us stay in touch.”
