Beginning on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 7:00 a.m., East Monroe Street between North Crawford Street and North Dawson Street will be closed temporarily to thru traffic to replace a damaged sanitary sewer service line. The road is expected to be re-opened to thru traffic by 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7th.
During the time of the repair, westbound thru traffic will be diverted north to East Clay Street, and eastbound thru traffic will be diverted south to East Washington Street. Local traffic (i.e. delivery trucks, employees, residents, etc.) will be accommodated to the maximum extent possible while ensuring the safety of the traveling public and workers in the area.
“Our goal is to minimize disruption to local citizens and people that need to travel in the area. When we have a utility line that has failed or is damaged, it has to be repaired or replaced. We try to schedule these repairs so they have the least impact on residents and traffic in the area,” said Wayne Newsome, P.E., City Engineer. “We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as these necessary improvements are made”.
