Spend the day in Downtown Thomasville on Saturday, February 3 and enjoy our 7th Annual Black History Celebration.
“Thomasville’s annual Black History Month Parade and Celebration has developed into an event our community truly embraces” stated Nicole Elwell, Special Events Manager. “This is a celebration of inclusion, diversity, and the rich cultural history that is an unfading part of our country’s history.”
The event begins with a parade at 10 am through Downtown Thomasville, followed by a celebration at 11 am at The Ritz Amphitheater. The parade begins at the intersection of Broad Street and Washington Street. The parade will travel down Broad Street, turn right on West Jackson Street and disband on Lee Street.
“We had over 100 entries in last year’s parade and anticipate an even larger turnout for this year” stated Brandy Avery, Main Street Director. “This is a great community celebration with activities for everyone to enjoy in Downtown Thomasville.”
Local resident Lucinda Brown has been selected by the Black History Month Committee as this year’s Parade Grand Marshal. Following the parade, a community celebration will kick-off at 11 am at The Ritz Amphitheater, featuring food vendors, local performances, strolling, and music with DJ Big Perk.
