RESCHEDULED DATES RELEASED FOR CITY MANAGER CANDIDATES

The rescheduled return visits of the final three candidates for the City Manager’s position have been released. The candidates will visit Thomasville on Tuesday, October 16th and 17th. Additionally, Thomas County Emergency Management reports no fatalities in Thomas County. Hundreds of trees are down throughout our community. CITY RECOVERS FROM HURRICANE MICHAEL

Hurricane Michael may not have passed directly through Thomasville, but the high winds surrounding the storm were enough to cause significant damage to the community. Numerous trees are down throughout the city and many roads are impassable. CITY OF THOMASVILLE OFFICES WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12TH

We have been monitoring the path of Hurricane Michael and the potential effects on our community. Based on the storm’s trajectory, we anticipate heavy winds and rains throughout the night and early morning hours. In the interest of safety, we will remain closed until Friday, October 12th. City of Thomasville staff members are to report for work on Friday at their regularly scheduled time unless otherwise instructed by their supervisors.

A hurricane watch has been issued for Thomas County. Forecasts indicate that Hurricane Michael may be on course to severely impact Thomasville and make landfall as a major hurricane. In preparation of the storm, City Administrative offices will close tomorrow, October 9, 2018 at 12 noon and will remain closed through Wednesday, October 10th.
