He was honored at the 2nd Annual Awards Ceremony, held July 16th in St. Simons Island. The awards program was established by the APWA Georgia Chapter for the purpose of recognizing outstanding public works individuals, groups, projects and awareness efforts representing the best achievements in the public works profession in Georgia. As part of his award, Pionessa attended the APWA national expo in Minneapolis, MN.

“It's an honor to be recognized by my peers as a Young Leader and represent Thomasville and the Georgia Chapter at the national expo,” said Jerry. “While the award is for my individual contributions, the credit is due to Team Thomasville, our culture of service, and a community that trusts and supports the projects we have undertaken to continue to improve our infrastructure and civic spaces.”

“Jerry does an outstanding job in his role as City Engineer for the City of Thomasville, and I am very proud to see his work recognized at both the state and national level,” said City Manager Steve Sykes. “The work that Jerry and his staff perform touches nearly every area of our community; from traffic engineering and street paving to urban planning and public works.
