CITY OF THOMASVILLE TO HOLD MULTIMODAL TRANSPORTATION PLAN PUBLIC INPUT SESSIONS

Posted on

The City of Thomasville Planning Department will host several Multimodal Transportation Plan (MMTP) public input sessions to provide the community the opportunity to review plan data, provide feedback, and talk directly with project staff. The schedule for the public input sessions is as follows:

  • Community Workshop - Tuesday, October 21, from 5:00–6:30 p.m., at Hubs & Hops Event Room, located at 209 W. Remington Avenue.
  • Pop-Up Event - Wednesday, October 22, from 8:00–9:00 a.m., at Grassroots Coffee, located at 118 South Broad Street.
  • Pop-Up Event - Wednesday, October 22, from 5:00–6:00 p.m., at Cherokee Park, located at 300 Covington Avenue.
  • Community Recap - Thursday, October 23, from 5:00–6:30 p.m., at Hubs & Hops Event Room, located at 209 W. Remington Avenue.

City staff are working on an MMTP to guide the future of safe, connected, and accessible travel for everyone in the community. This plan combines two important efforts into one:

  • A Multimodal Transportation Plan for walking, bicycling, driving, and personal transportation vehicles (like golf carts) throughout the city.
  • A Safe Streets for All vision that focuses on reducing crashes and eliminating fatalities and serious injuries on roadways.

City Planner Kenny Thompson says that the purpose of the MMTP is to provide comprehensive direction to the City on how transportation projects, policies, initiatives, and best practices should be implemented moving forward to make Thomasville’s streets safer and more connected. “The MMTP will build on Thomasville’s strong foundation of citywide planning initiatives and complement the long-term goals and action items that are outlined in the Thomasville: Blueprint 2028.”

Community input will guide the plan every step of the way, with opportunities to participate both online and in person throughout 2025 and into 2026. “We encourage the community to help shape the future of transportation in Thomasville by sharing feedback through involvement at public input events and our interactive surveys,” said Thompson. “The survey allows our community to pin ideas directly on a city map while sharing their transportation priorities and experiences.” Please visit thomasville.org/multimodal-transportation-plan to participate in the surveys.
