THOMASVILLE, GA – September 2, 2016 – On Friday afternoon, the City of Thomasville reported that approximately 2,000 electric customers were still without power. The City reported that crews are continuing to work to restore power as quickly as possible.

“Our electric crews have been working non-stop since last night to repair and restore service to customers who lost service as a result of Hurricane Hermine. We have restored service to approximately 7,000 customers, but we still have about 2,000 customers whose power has not been restored. Our crews will continue to work until around 10:00 p.m. on Friday evening, but at that time, for the safety of our team members, we will have to send them home for the evening to get some rest. They will resume work early on Saturday morning around 6:30 a.m.,” said Don Atkinson, Assistant City Manager, Utilities.

“We understand how inconvenient and disruptive power outages are to our customers. We want to assure our customers that we are doing all that we can to restore service as quickly as possible. Our crews will continue to work throughout the weekend to restore service. In addition, we have several crews from other MEAG cities who will be here to assist with recovery,” Atkinson added.

The City will continue to post updates about the status of service restoration throughout the weekend. Customers can visit the City’s website at www.thomasville.org or the City’s Facebook page for this information. To report a service outage, please call 229-227-5499
