MAIN STREET DIRECTOR , MAIN STREET

The Main Street Director manages activities within the downtown commercial district revitalization program that utilizes historic preservation as an integral foundation for downtown economic development. The position is responsible for the development, conduct, execution and documentation of the Main Street program. The program director is the principal on-site staff person responsible for managing all program activities and volunteers, as well as representing the community regionally and nationally as appropriate. In addition, the program director should help guide the organization as its objectives evolve. The Main Street Director is the first point of contact with business owners in the downtown commercial district facilitating requests, answering questions, and keeping them apprised about downtown happenings. This position will also serve as the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) director and works to develop economic opportunities in downtown Thomasville.

Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, historic preservation, or related field with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in commercial district management, economics, finance, public relations, planning, business admin, retailing, volunteer or non-profit administration, architecture, historic preservation, or small business development. Candidates should have a strong understanding of design and preservation; should have strength in addressing challenges and concerns for the betterment of downtown business merchants, property owners, property owners, public agencies, and community organizations; should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be entrepreneurial, energetic, energetic, imaginative, well organized, and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment.

Salary ranges from $72,253.32 to $95,735.65 yearly. Position is open until filled.


CNSNEXT DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT, MARKETING

With limited supervision, this position provides direct and indirect oversight of the administrative activities of CNSNext customer services throughout the regional SGGSA footprint. Responsible for devising and executing marketing and sales strategies aimed at maximizing market growth, fostering positive relationships and promoting community buy-in throughout the region. Position will also serve as the liaison to member cities of the SGGSA, the SGGSA Executive Team and other cities that SGGSA provides services to.

Must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, public relations or related field with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in developing and executing marketing strategies and communication initiatives. The ideal candidate should have experience in both marketing and customer service. Additional experience in public relations and public communications is also preferred. Candidate should have a strong understanding of CNSNext priorities and initiatives as well as a strong understanding of project management fundamentals. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong organization skills are necessary, with experience that includes public speaking and experience in overseeing community projects to completion desired.

Salary ranges from $79,659.29 TO $105,548.56 yearly. Position is open until filled.


UTILITY RESPONSE CENTER APPRENTICE OPERATOR , UTILITY RESPONSE CENTER (URC)

Candidate must be a detail-oriented person and should have computer experience including MS Office. A background in utilities is desired, but not a requirement. Candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting customers issues in (but not limited to) the following areas: electric, gas, water, wastewater, cable, telephone, street and ROW issues, customer billing and service issues. Candidate will take delinquent payments and set up new accounts, dispatch crews in all utility areas including electric and cable outages. Must be willing to work shifts and will be required to fill vacant shifts and work large outage events beyond regular schedule. Candidate will use SCADA to tag electric crews, operate water system and monitor and respond to alarms. Candidate must become familiar with individual departments operating procedures as they relate to URC duties on behalf of said departments. Must become ITS and SCADA certified through MEAG. Candidate will identify individual trouble tickets and the correct completion of each; will identify the different SCADA screens, including correct interpretation of the data shown on each; will collect and copy reports for the different departments; will read electric distribution maps and the individual feeder designations enabling the operator to tag crews to correct feeders according to their locations.

Candidate will be on stand-by 24/7 for URC management of storm or emergency restoration for utility services if needed.

UTILITY LOCATOR, WATER

Candidate must be able to follow written and oral instructions; must have basic computer skills; must be able to work with electronic equipment. Candidate will call in utility locate (dig tickets) notifications and clear completed dig tickets daily.

Salary ranges from $16.71 to $22.14 hourly. Position closes on March 28th.


INFORMATION SPECIALIST, MAIN STREET

This is a highly visible position requiring extensive knowledge of the City of Thomasville and Thomas County to promote as a tourist destination. This position requires good communication, discretion, diplomacy, and good judgement. This position is the first point of contact for all visitors and the local community walking into the Visitors Center. This person works directly with Main Street personnel in highlighting our area attractions. This position provides support for our facility rentals of the Municipal Auditorium and The Ritz Amphitheater.

Candidates should have an associate’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field or 5 years’ equivalent experience in business management, marketing, communications or related field; should have experience in Point-of-Sales Systems with retail experience; should have a high level of understanding of bookkeeping; should have extraordinary people skills and knowledge of downtown development and travel statistics and trends.

Salary ranges from $15.91 to $21.09 hourly. Position closes on March 28th.


COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER, POLICE

Position held by a non-sworn civilian capable of full duty to assist the public, law enforcement officers and other personnel by performing a variety of public relations, technical, clerical and other activities related to law enforcement functions.

The CSO will attend community events; will also respond to low risk calls for service in the field by means of operating a city owned vehicle; will write police reports stemming from citizens in the field, on the phone and/or at the police department; will direct traffic, collect evidence and investigate private property accidents; will maintain visibility by patrolling assigned area, city streets, parks, neighborhoods and business to ensure security; assist fellow officers’ in documenting case information; respond to questions, complaints, and requests for information by telephone or in person from merchants, community/civic organizations, the general public, employees, superiors and other individuals; assist in the response to critical incidents, special events and storm related events as needed; will understand and use agency’s electronic reporting system to ensure full compliance with GEARS (Georgia Electronic Accident Reporting System); attend court, fires or accidents in assigned area and gives all possible assistance to Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services; monitor for automobile parking in restricted areas and issues citations to violators when necessary; operate two-way radio to dispatch patrol cars to the scene of a disturbance or crimes; accept all complaints and commendations from citizens to be properly submitted to professional standards and will take and relay messages and/or direct calls or questions to appropriate personnel.

Salary ranges from $18.42 to $24.41 hourly. Open until filled.


CERTIFIED & NON-CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER, POLICE DEPARTMENT

The City of Thomasville is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Georgia certification is preferred, though not required.

This is general law enforcement work responsible for protecting life and property and enforcing laws and ordinances. Work involves routine patrol in assigned area, responding to emergency calls, alarms and citizen complaints. Duties include traffic enforcement, assignments, preliminary investigations and other related work. A career in Law Enforcement requires independent judgment and discretion in difficult or unusual situations and involves an element of personal danger.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older upon completion of Police Academy.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.

STARTING SALARY:

  • Police Officer I (uncertified Police Recruit attending the Georgia Police Academy) – $21.33 hourly or yearly salary of $46,575.
  • Police Officer II (GA Certified Police Officer w/no experience or recruit officer who graduates from the academy and successfully completes Field Training Officer Program) – $22.39 hourly or yearly salary of $48,903.
  • Additional educational incentive pay of $1,500 for Associate’s degree and $3,000 for Bachelor’s degree in related field of work.
  • Additional pay increases for Certified Police Officers up to 10 years of experience and special assignments.


CERTIFIED FIREFIGHTER, FIRE RESCUE

Thomasville Fire Rescue is accepting applications for the position of Certified Firefighter/EMT with the City of Thomasville. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma. Candidates must be professional, customer-focused, and work well within a team environment. Firefighter (NPQ FF1 & 2) required, and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification is preferred.

Starting Salary:

  • Firefighter Trainee (no experience) – $38,317 yearly.
  • Firefighter I (State of Georgia Certified Firefighter) – $40,233 yearly.
  • Additional pay increases are provided for certifications, experience, and overtime.
