The purpose of the meeting is to consider on first and second reading under resolution of emergency a new Chapter 7 Emergency Management Ordinance of the Code of Ordinances. The purpose of considering this ordinance is to update the emergency management procedures and powers of the City. The City Council will not consider declaring a local state of emergency at this meeting. The meeting will be held in Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, located at 144 East Jackson Street.

“This meeting of the Thomasville City Council has been called in an abundance of caution and in the interest of public health and safety,” said Alan Carson, City of Thomasville City Manager. “The Emergency Management Ordinance that will be presented will provide our local government with the means to operate quickly in an ever-evolving situation in order to best serve our community and its citizens.” Carson said that this meeting is also in part due to Governor Brian Kemp’s recent state of emergency declaration.
